do carp spawning make other fish not want to bite?
i went fishing today and as soon as i got to the water, there were carp splashing around the shoreline making alot of noise and kicking up alot of mud. the whole day out there, i only got a small largemouth bass. im fishing off the shore so i cant get out to the middle of the lake, but is this maybe why i wasnt doing so good? Ive used everything from fake baits, lures, jigs, nightcrawlers and minnows.do the carp scare the other fish or what? thanks

As long as you put some distance between where you fish and and where the carp are thrashing around, I would say no. I fish with artificial bait using a bait caster. I have caught many large mouth bass while watching carp muddy up the water. Good luck and remember,”A bad day fishing still beats a good day at work!”
I work for a fish market but still learning every day. I can say this though while fishing for catfish I found myself deep in the carp and gar spawn a few times and when the carp and gar spawn other fish go to areas where they are not spawnining I can remember one time 30 feet from shore the carp were spawning and in the grass 6 ft from shore is where I found large catfish hiding and feeding I hit it big when I found where they were going for cover hope this helps
I think the fish were pigging out on carp eggs and not paying attention to much else.
All that noise would scare off many fish but know this, That noise didn’t get un-noticed. When all is said and done, the fish will be looking for an easy carp egg meal. Note the area and move on, return in a few days and fish the area.

Heck ya, carp are ugly to look at, can you imagine them when getting their freak on?” HAha…just messing with ya. ~good luck catchin’.
It should not make a difference. I have caught bass and pan fish from shore while carp were flopping around.
