I have seen people catch carp on spinners(also called in-line spinnerbait).

Carp are bottom feeders. Try Velveeta cheese (or the fancy cheese baits) on a treble hook or cheese hook (a treble hook with a wire spiral around the shank). Let it sink to the bottom and just leave it there until you get a strike.

Step1 Set up your fishing rod, complete with hook, bobber and weight.

Step2 Throw a handful of corn out into the water.

Step3 Put two or three pieces of corn on your hook and throw it into the water around the area where the corn is floating.

Step4 Be very still and wait. You may have to wait for 10 or 15 minutes to get a bite. The carp are probably waiting and watching to see if it is a trick. Once they are comfortable they will start biting at the corn.

Step5 When you feel the tug on your line, quickly pull your rod straight up.

Step6 Don’t let the line go slack. Keep tension on the line at all times. If you let the line slack the carp may spit out the hook.

Step7 After you have wrestled with the carp for a few minutes, he will get tired. Reel him in.

I just answered this same question 15 seconds ago. Canned corn is by far the best bait for carp. Just line your hook with it and throw it out. If you can see them near the surface, use a bobber.Good Luck!

The carp shown in the link below was 27 pounds and 37 inches. I caught it on a 4/0 Gamakatsu wide gap worm hook with King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls as bait.
