There is nothing wrong, fish move to deeper water during the winter to prevent them freezing – we are expecting snow over easter! put a couple of tennis balls in your pond to keep the ice at bay

    Whats the water temp like?

If it’s below about 10C on average then they will be in ‘hibernation’ mode. Not eating, not moving much, slow metabolism, conserving energy.

When the water warms up they will come back to life.

koi hibernate when the water temp gets around 50 degrees, they huddle to the bottom and stop eating (if they eat in hibernation they can die as thier digestive system shuts down) they would have to be in deep hibernation for this to happen. we live in minnesota and have 13 large koi in our swimming pond we made and the fish are under the ice.we didn’t airate the pond this year so we are hoping they all made it. your fish are fine.

They are hibernating. They usually won’t become active till around 50 degrees every day. Just remember don’t feed them until it remains 50 every day or above. They will move but very lethargically. Not to worry.
